About GCCHA

One of the first cutting clubs in Northern California, Gold Country was founded in 1984 with Charlie Stultz serving as the first president. Entry fees at that time were $15 per class with cattle charges costing $5.

The Gold Country Cutting Horse Association is a club for cutting horse enthusiasts with memberships available to individuals or families. Gold Country hosts between 8-10 cutting competitions per year. Shows are usually scheduled for the first Sunday of each month. See show schedule. Each show offers classes structured at various levels of competition such that experts show in the morning and beginners show in afternoon classes. There are also classes for junior and senior youth exhibitors. Shows are open to the public, a food booth operates early, and spectators are always welcome.

The club offers end-of-the-year awards for contestants and their horses that accumulate points at each show. Traditionally, sponsored buckles are awarded to first and second place winners in each class and additional prizes are awarded through sixth place. Top-ten awards acknowledge horses that accumulate the most points during each show for the season. Horses and riders must participate in a minimum of half the shows to become eligible for awards.  All awards are presented during the end-of-the-year Awards Banquet held in late October. If you are interested in sponsoring an award you may contact Lee Livingston at his number listed below.

For more information about our club please contact our President Lee Livingston (pictured above) at: 916-663-2081 or one of the board members listed on this site.
